Answer by Autumn
My taxes would be $ 1000 higher under McCains tax system. I would get an additional $ 1000 with Obama’s! Great!

Funny…if I made $ 300,000 per year, I would pay $ 2,000 LESS in taxes under McCains plan than Obamas.

Question by beast soldier: How much do I have to make before paying federal income tax?
I recently started my job and have made about $ 700 or so. My employer is yet to withhold federal income tax and I was wondering what the cut off for having to report income and pay income tax was?
EDIT: I’m a dependent. On the W4 form (I believe that’s what it was), the only thing I put a number next to was that I was single and this was my only job.

Best answer:

Answer by Bash Limpbutt’s Oozing Cyst©
Depends upon your filing status and the source of your income.

If you are single, cannot be claimed as a dependent, and you income is wages from a job, the magic number is $ 9,350 for 2009 and 2010. If your wages are such that you will earn less than that in a year, little if any Federal income tax will be withheld.

See IRS Pub 501 http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/p501.pdf for full information on filing requirements.

I am 19 and this is my first time doing taxes the problem is i claimed both my sister 14, and my brother who is 13 in my tax return. But my dad is head of the household because he made more than me this year. He didn’t want to claim them because he knew i supported both of them this year and i have receipt’s and bills under my name to prove it.

Question by ryan m: What is a W-9 Form?
I am confused as to what a W-9 tax form is. I signed one when I join YPN and I’ve made a $ 100. If they send me the check will I have to file taxes on that $ 100 or do you have to earn a certain amount per year to get taxed?

Thanks,
Ryan

Best answer:

Answer by tax_black_belt
A W-9 Form is a request for taxpayer identification number used to report cash payments to individuals and businesses who are not employees.

The $ 100 is subject to taxes, as is all income. Whether or not you have tax due on the amount is another matter, as that is based on the total amount of income earned from sources over the year, and the permitted deductions.

When YPN pays you $ 600 or more, they will have to file a 1099-MISC report of the amount and your tax ID with the IRS.

Question by Kat: Tax Returns……………..?
ok so I got a w-2 in the mail, so I file it on turbotax.com….it was approved, I got the money a few days later. Then, like a few days later I recieved two other w-2′s in the mail. I don’t really feel like going to the tax center and ammending them. Could I just NOT claim them? Or will that get me in some sort of trouble?
to rtfm…UM I knew that I worked at two other places, but I didn’tknow that all w2′s had to be filed at the same time. So go f..u..c..k.. yourself. THANKS!

Best answer:

Answer by sciencegravy
Yes, it will get you into trouble. You may have gotten more of a refund than you should have by declaring less income than you earned.

If you don’t amend your return and fix it, the IRS will eventually catch up to you – but it will take them awhile. And when they do, they’ll charge you interest on anything you owe after April 15th of this year. So it will only cost you more later if you don’t deal with it now.

(How come you forgot about two other places you worked last year?)
