what are the chances of my tax refund being audit?

Question by jony: what are the chances of my tax refund being audit?
I am 19 and this is my first time doing taxes the problem is i claimed both my sister 14, and my brother who is 13 in my tax return. But my dad is head of the household because he made more than me this year. He didn’t want to claim them because he knew i supported both of them this year and i have receipt’s and bills under my name to prove it. What are the chances that my tax refund could be audit?

Can I get a bigger tax refund than what I actually paid in taxes?

Question by atcwag: Can I get a bigger tax refund than what I actually paid in taxes?
Can you get a bigger tax refund back than what you actually paid in taxes?

For example, this is my first year filing independent. When I do my taxes without claiming any deductions, I get all my taxes refunded.

I have some deductions I could claim, most notably the fact that I was a college student. If I claim these deductions can I get even more money back than what I paid in taxes? Or does the max refund you can get = what you actually paid in taxes?
I didn’t mean being a college student automatically was a deduction, but paying interest on student loans and tuition fees are deductions.

Q&A: How long does it take for FMS to send arrears after tax refund is intercepted?

Question by Gab V: How long does it take for FMS to send arrears after tax refund is intercepted?
My ex’s Federal tax refund was intercepted for child support arrears. He had to call the FOC tax unit to authorize the return go toward arrears. According to FOC they sent the payment authorization to FMS on 4/29/08.Anyone know how long before I get it?

Best answer:

Answer by OL’DIRTYBASTARDS
if his refund has been processed and offset already and he doesn’t owe any federal debts such as student loans, back taxes or anything and did not file a joint return with a spouse it may only take 1 month to receive, and if you don’t owe anything like that also,or you wasn’t or is on public assistance b/c if so they will keep a portion or all to cover what they have paid you.

if he’s married and filed jointly they will hold it for 6 months to give the spouse time to file injured spouse to get their portion of the refund check.she can sign a paper to tell them she doesn’t want her half so you can receive it faster than 6 mos.

btw,if his refund does not cover his debt his rebate will be offset also and given to you also.

Question by : Why isnt my energy tax credit showing up on my turbo tax refund?
I spent around $ 9,000 on energy efficient upgrades to my house and it is not showing up on my turbo tax refund!!!!! why is this?
I know i dont get the 9 grand back! I am supposed to get a 1500 dollar tax CREDIT!
I dont owe anything into my taxes, and i entered in everything it needed to know about what i bought and how much it cost.

Answer by Ryan M
Did you even input the numbers into Turbo Tax???? Turbo Tax does not read your mind you know! If you did input the amounts, then for some reason you might not qualify for the credits. Also, there is a cap to the amount you can deduct. If you were expecting to see all $ 9,000 on your return, you need to wake up because you are dreaming.
